- Well, first this must be done when you're actually sending data
- dirrectly through the modem, it will not work with a SLIP or PPP
- connection, or while playing a modem game or anything like that. There
- are then three steps to dropping into command mode:
-
- 1. Don't send any data to the modem for a second or two.
-
- 2. Send three plus signs (+++) to the modem all in a row.
-
- 3. Wait for another second or so.
-
-
- If everything worked ok, your modem should give you an OK, you are
- then in command mode. You can cahnge some (although not all)
- configuration options for your modem, and more importantly, you can look
- at some connection diagnostic screens (provided your modem actualy has
- some of them). To return on-line, send the modem an ATO command, or an
- ATO1 command to return on-line and force a retrain at the same time
- (helpful if your modem seems to be running into problems with the
- connection and is not retraining on it's own).
